Dissecting Reality (Studies Into the Nature of Existence)

So I'm a big fan of scientific studies that attempt to get down to the basest of base: what is reality, and how does it exist?
I've got a couple interesting articles that I've found over the past year or so that I wanted to share...

Number 1:

Number 2:

and unfortunately I wasn't able to locate the third, but it was a study into the brain that theorized it as being less a storage center and more a transmission (sending/receiving) device; IE, our consciousness
is stored somewhere outside of our actual bodies.

So taking the information in all three of these articles into consideration, it isn't implausible to view our universe as a massive simulation of some sort (for those of you who have played Star Ocean 3, imagine an Eternal Sphere sort of existence). This truly fascinates me.

So what are some of your thoughts and opinions on these sort of studies?
