Rikidou High School was built in order to gather those students who had been born and blessed with unusually high levels of Kago and Ki. The school, located in the city of Aizawa on the remote but bustling island of Choujin was made in order to teach students how to utilize their powers safely and occasionally train up promising students in order to become the citys Peace Keepers.
A student born with Kago is able to contain a large amounts of spirit energy based on the five elements; Water, Earth, Fire, Wind and Metal in his or her body. The greater the students capacity to hold Kago, the more powerful their Ki partners become.
A student born with Ki is able to transform their body into a spiritual weapon or spirit beasts when imbued with Kago. In order to transform though, they must first be paired up with a partner who possesses Kago.
It is a given that while in school, the students with these unique powers are paired up in order for them to bond and be able utilize their respective powers. Some of these bonded pairs move on to become life-long friends and partners while others may even become lovers and marry.
Though rare, there have been cases where Kago and Ki partners were unable to get along. In these cases, the pairs are reassigned but it will take time for the new bond to be created as a severed bond uses plenty of Kago and Ki to mend and then re-bond. As such, the school encourages paired student to spend plenty of time together; often times placing them in the same classes and holding events for the student body to participate in to encourage teamwork and foster the spirit of comradery.

IC:
Nokoru Hughes yawned as he made his way up the hill that lead to the school. It was still rather early, but his parents had wanted to go out on an early morning 'date' since his dad had a day off. Not wanting him to oversleep and miss the first day of school (as he nearly did last year because his mother had gone out to do the morning shopping) his parents had woken him up and even dropped him off at the foot of the hill before going off on their 'date'.
"Ugh... so early.." he muttered grumpily, eyes partially closed as he approached the school building; spotting some senior 'Kago-Ki' partners and students goofing around with their powers just a few meters from the gate. A wind based Kago user Nokoru only vaguely recognized had managed to transform his partner into a cool looking sword that when swung, generated a gust of wind. The senior was obviously showing off to his peers; making light cutting motions with his transformed sword-partner and generating a gentle breeze that even managed to reach him.
"Ah... so..so.. early.."
